The Montana Chamber of Commerce reviewed more than 50 decisions by the Montana Supreme Court from 2018 and 2019 that had an impact on the economy and business in the state, a news release states.

The chamber likes to review the decisions in order to see how those decisions impact businesses in Montana in the long term, according to the release.

“The Montana Chamber is one of the only organizations that reviews court decisions with special attention to their long-term impacts on doing business in Montana,” Bridger Mahlum, government relations director for the Montana Chamber, said in the news release. “As the third branch of our state government, it’s just as important to evaluate the activity of the judiciary as it is to engage in its legislative and executive counterparts.”

The chamber assigns a rating to each Supreme Court justice, as well as the overall court, which is at 74% this year over its 72% rating in 2018. The justices received ratings between 64% and 83%, the news release states.
