The 98th annual Montana Taxpayers Association meeting will be held on Wednesday,  December 4 at the Great Northern Hotel in Malta. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Tom Livers, budget director for Gov. Steve Bullock, will give the keynote address. Livers will discuss putting together the executive budget for the governor. 

Patrick Barkey, of the University of Montana’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research, will present a preview of the economic outlook for Montana in 2020. 

An overview of the high-tech industry in Montana will be given by Christina Quick Henderson, executive director of the Montana High Tech Business Alliance.

State Sens. Dick Barrett and Mark Blasdel, both members of the Senate tax committee, will report on HJ 35, Montana’s interim study of state and local tax policy.

Douglas J. Young, professor emeritus (Economics) at Montana State University, will present ideas for tax reform in Montana.

State Rep. Llew Jones and Rep. Jim Hamilton will discuss HG715, the Montana House bill to revise laws related to state finance and provide for fiscal studies.

The Montana Taxpayers Association (MonTax) was founded in 1921 as a non-partisan watchdog group working to promote fair. equitable and predictable tax laws in the state. Its goal is to ensure that the government provides value to the public. Membership is open to the public.
