Last month, Montana State Sen. Ken Bogner (R-Miles City) reflected on his Marine Corps service as part of the branch’s 244th anniversary in a session at the State Capitol.
According to Bogner, the USMC birthday on Nov. 10 “holds a special place in Marine’s hearts that the other branches just don't have.”
“Marines truly believe their mantra of ‘once a Marine, always a Marine’ and the camaraderie that comes with that means we will always be a part of our storied Corps,” he said. “We are fanatical about celebrating our history and the Marines that came before us. There's a reason we are proud to claim the title of United States Marines.”
The USMC, which is responsible for conducting expeditionary and amphibious operations with the Navy, Army and Air Force, was founded on Nov. 10, 1775, during the Revolutionary War.
