ANTELOPE: FWP to hold public hearing on labeling standards for PFD's

Pfd

Antelope issued the following announcement on Feb.19.

Fish, Wildlife & Parks will hold a public hearing on proposed changes to language in the Administrative Rules of Montana that pertains to the U. S. Coast Guard’s new labeling standards for personal floatation devices.

The U.S. Coast Guard is transitioning its labeling from “types” to “icons” to indicate level of buoyancy and activity use. This requires amendments to ARM 12.11.301 that will remove and clarify language to comply with the U.S. Coast Guard’s new labeling standards. The proposed amendments will permit recreationists to use any U.S. Coast Guard-approved person floatation device regardless of the label if it is still in working condition.
