U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that six Montana ports will have reduced hours due to the traffic reduction from COVID-19.
On April 3, the U.S. CBP said the reduced hours are temporary and will be in effect for the coronavirus pandemic, but will be lifted afterward, according to The Courier. They are expected to stay in effect until April 30.
“With the essential-only travel restrictions imposed on March 21, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, cross-border travel has significantly declined," the CBP said in a press release. "Reducing the hours of operations at ports of entry along both land borders will allow CBP to continue to provide service to these communities as we work to keep our employees safe from exposure and community spread."
