Antelope issued the following announcement on July 22.
As the Scottish Government announced COVID-19 measures requiring people to quarantine on arrival in Scotland are being lifted for travellers from Spain, Glasgow Airport revealed that it would be flying to 74 destinations by early September.
With the aviation industry starting the fightback from the crisis, the city’s airport already has 31 operational destinations, with another 43 gradually being introduced until 9 September.
The full list, with start dates, can be seen here.
Following a review of infection prevalence rates, the Scottish Government said Spain and the Spanish islands will be added to the list of destinations exempt from the two-week quarantine period later this week.
Flights from Glasgow to Malaga, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Majorca, Lanzarote, Ibiza and Tenerife start on July 25, with Alicante on July 27 and more to follow next month.
Derek Provan, chief executive of AGS Airports which owns Glasgow and Aberdeen Airports, said: “The omission of Spain from the initial quarantine exemption list resulted in the cancellation of many flights. With just three weeks left of the school holidays, the removal of travel restrictions will provide airlines with the confidence to maintain their popular Spanish routes and afford families the opportunity to get away for some sun.”
